About Conference 9th ICSD 2024
The International Conference of Sport History and Culture was initiated in 2015 by the Asian Journal of Sport History & Culture and Jiangxi Normal University, China and Bangor University, UK and becomes an annual event since then. The second took place at Shanghai University of Sport in 2016, the third at Anhui Normal University, Wuhu in 2017; the fourth at Shaanxi Normal University, Xi’an in 2018. The fifth at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua in 2019. The sixth took place in Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou in 2021. And the seventh in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung in 2022. The eighth took place in South Korea in 2023.
The ninth will take place in 5-7 November 2024 in collaboration with 9th International Conference of Sport for Development and Peace 2024 in School of Postgraduate Studies, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Bandung, Indonesia.
The conference will be jointly organised by the Asian-Pacific Association of Sport Studies (APASS) Asian Journal of Sport History & Culture (AJSHC, Routledge); Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Indonesia and the Institute of Olympic Studies and Research of Shanghai University of Sport.
The theme of the conference is the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games in Asia. It will examine the history and evolution of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games in the global context; discuss the core concepts and the government and governance of the Olympic Movement and the Games in the context of Asia; analyse the relationship between the Olympics and politics, nationalism, economy, education and cultures with special reference to Asia; and critically review the Olympics and the challenges the Olympic Movement and the Games are facing in the future. Selected papers will be identified for development and publication in the Special Issue AJSHC, Routledge; SINTA 3 Journal, International Journal (Google Scholar Indexed), and Proceeding ICSDP 2024.

Profesor at Shanghai Unversity of Sports, China. President of the Asian-Pacific Association of Sport Studies (APASS), Editor in Chief of the Asian Journal of Sport History and Culture, an editorial board member of the International Journal of Sport Policies and Politics, and Sport Encyclopaedia.
Prof. Ian Henry
Professor from Loughborough University, UK. He serves as the Director of the Centre for Olympic Studies and Research. Associate Editor of the Journal of Global Sport Management and editorial boards of the European Sport Management Quarterly, the International Journal of Sport History, and the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics.
Prof. Amung Ma’mun
Prof. Amung Ma’mun is a professor in sports policy and development at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI); he has published extensively on sports coaching, physical education, and sports for development. His research promotes universal values in sports and youth empowerment. Prof. Amung is active in international collaborations and conferences and has significantly impacted sports education and policy-making.
Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir
Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir is a renowned Indonesian expert in sports education and sport science, affiliated with Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). He has significantly contributed to sports development, physical education, and sports management, both nationally and internationally. As a professor, he has published research on sports policy, youth sports, and physical activity’s role in health and well-being. Prof. Toho actively participates in international collaborations, conferences, and has influenced the advancement of sports education and policy-making in Indonesia.

Abstract Submission
1. To submit an abstract, you must REGISTER your account for the conference.

6. Use the login password to log in and start a submission.
The abstract must be written in English and contains the following sections: introduction, objectives, methods, results, conclusions, and keywords. The abstract must have a maximum of 300 words. The keywords are 3 to 5 words, written in alphabetical order.
Full-paper Submission
1. The full paper must be written in English according to the paper template (Please find it in the “Download” menu).
2. Full-paper must contain the following structure: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (optional), and References.
3. Full-paper/s must be revised according to the reviewer’s comments. Please note that the revision of your entire paper will be the final version (including author name/s, etc.) to be submitted to the publisher unless the editor/s make changes to improve the quality of the paper.
4. The author’s instructions and full paper template can be downloaded HERE or from the download menu on the official website.
PowerPoint submission and instructions
1) All presenters must prepare a PowerPoint/ Slide Presentation for the conference. Each presenter will be present for about 10-15 Minutes.
2) The PowerPoint should be between 7-8 slides, written in English using APA 6th edition citation styled, and please use the provided template (please find the template HERE or download it at the “Download” menu).
3) Please follow the following PowerPoint structure:
a. First slide: Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s).
b. Slide 2-3: Introduction
c. Slide 4: Methods
d. Slide 5-6: Result & Discussion
e. Slide 7: Conclusion
f. Slide 8: References

Important Notes for Presenters
1) The parallel session will be held with a hybrid system (in-person or online).
2) The allocated time for each presentation is (tentatively) about 10 - 15 minutes.
3) The room keeper in each breakout room will manage the session.
4) E-certificate for presenters will be awarded to those who fully participate in the conference sessions.
How to get to Bandung
The Jakarta International Airport, also known as the Sukarno-Hatta or Cengkareng Airport, is served by major airlines worldwide. From Jakarta, you can take the train, shuttle buses, or travel mini buses to get to Bandung.
Getting to Bandung by Train
The train is a comfortable means of transportation to get to Bandung. You can use the airport shuttle bus to the Gambir Train Station. The shuttle bus leaves approximately every 15 minutes, and the journey lasts about 30-60 minutes, depending on the traffic. From the train station, you should take the train to Bandung. The train leaves almost every hour. The first train leaves at 5.30 am, while the last train leaves at 8.30 p.m. on weekdays and 9.30 p.m. on Sundays. The 180-km-ride takes about 3 hours.
Getting to Bandung by Shuttle Buses
Prima Jasa is an intercity shuttle bus directly traveling to Bandung. You can get the ticket at the Prima Jasa travel desk not far from the exit of the International arrival gates. The bus leaves every hour and gets to Bandung in 3-4 hours.

Such services as Lintas, X-Tran, Day-Tran, etc., offer you mini buses traveling to Bandung for 24 hours.
